Peloton, KONM’s section focused on (mostly) pro road racing, will be the site’s meat and drink.
If you’re looking for in-depth, insightful and high-quality reportage and commentary on professional road cycling, you’ve come to the wrong place. For that kind of thing, KONM recommends Podium Cafe, PCS, Cycling News or Sticky Bottle (to name but a few).
But here in Peloton you’ll be able to read the type of miscellanea that a lot of – vastly inferior – bloggers would describe as ‘various musings’ on World Tour racing, as well as (possibly) some of the smaller and local races.
I make no claims to be an expert. In fact, I make no claims to be even passably knowledgeable in the grander scheme of things. The only card I have to play here is mild obsession.
In the lead-up to the 2019 season getting underway, KONM will start to compile some previews, as well as notching up a few rider profiles and stories. What we won’t aim to be, however, is a website-of-record. Stats and results are only of tangential interest in these parts.
As covered in the About section, there may be ‘a descent into the more pretentious realms of cyclo-lit. You know the kind of thing: the dreamy, 1,000-word ‘portraits’ about the existential terror of climbing hills that so many cyclists love to read.’
For the most part, the early months will be trial-and-error. We’ll see how things go.
